Gianna Giannelli


Gianna Claudia Giannelli (MSc. Economics, London School of Economics; PhD in Economics, European University Institute, Florence) is associate professor and member of the Department of Economics and Management at the University of Florence. She is Research Fellow of IZA (Bonn) and CHILD (Turin).

She has done research on topics of Labour and Household Economics concerning youths and women in the labour market, women's and children's welfare in developing countries, intergenerational transfers, the role of domestic work in Europe, microeconometric applications to panel data. She has coordinated a project on unpaid family care work in Europe for the European Parliament.

Her current research interests concern migration, remittances, education, schooling, child labour and gender. She has published on international journals like International Migration Review, Review of Economics of Education, World Development, Journal of Population Economics Journal of Asian Economics.
